What am I doing?

Radio

I have been having tons of fun with meshtastic for the past few years, and have recently picked up an RTL-SDR and am loving every bit of it!

Test Radio Setup

This was me testing the radio with the new power supply to make sure there is no interference, none found so I think we are good to keep going.

New Antenna!

I recently talked with my dad about this new project, and he remembered that he had an old tv antenna that he wasn't using anymore, so now its mine!

Future Case!

I also have plans to put the radio (not the antenna) into an Apache 2800 and make a cyberdeck! It will be solar powered too!

02-22-2026 Update

New Screen

I got the screen and its much smaller than I thought. Good news is that it draws much less current and allows me to put everything into a smaller case later on.

Battery Life

I also tested the battery life, and it was anywhere between 8-12 hours at max screen brightness.

Keyboard is Here!!!

Just got the keyboard and it fits just perfectly with a healthy amount of friction! I was initially worried it would be too small and that I would have to somehow mount it to the faceplate, but now all I have to do is the small part of the faceplate over the raspberry pi. The trackpad will be coming sometime beginning of March, then I can see if that will also fit in the bottom left of the case. The friction fit also allows me to easily remove and replace the keyboard with ease.

The Trunk

The keyboard also has enough friction to hold itself up, hinging on the back part of it allowing for trunk space to put all kinds of gadgets and dodads!

Scratch Code

I used to work on some pretty complex scratch projects, but they have just reached a point where it's simply not fun to keep working on them. They are still pretty neat though!

I am currently migrating my NAS to some new software for better redundancy, so it will take me a bit before I can find and share those scratch projects. :(

Do note that the SmileOS 2.0 was something I looked for as an existing project and I found nothing, so I use AI to make all of smile.html [derogetory]. I did however figure out most of the logistical parts, AI primarily did the syntax and coding so please be mean about it and tell me how much you hate me now that I use AI for something I don't understand. I would also like to state that I refuse to let AI build the website itself as this is my wasteland that I get to mess up, not some clanker!
